Debt help is self-help. We can keep on spending ourselves into maxed-out credit cards or bankruptcy and look for someone to bail us out or we can learn to help ourselves. Spending our money frivously, whether through overspending in the stores, gambling, going on expensive vacations, or dining out on a daily basis can get us into some pretty good trouble.
Debt help is really about helping ourselves to change our lives. Debt help can only happen if we make changes in our daily life and stop living above our means.
Many of us have gotten used to using our home-equity to finance vacations or have maxed-out our credit cards to buy the things that we want, but do not necesarrily need. After the bank and real-estate crisis in 2008, things have really changed for the worst.
Our credit lines have been cut, and our home are worth a lot less than they were. We can no longer use our home as an ATM machine anymore.
The debt that we all put ourselves into became a habit for many of us. We became used to immediate gratification, and everything was put on credit. We bought what we wanted, and we did not think about the future at all.
Our debt is tied very much to our emotions, and therefore debt help has to be about helping ourselves to get back on track financially by delaying gratification and by becoming more financially responsible.
Maxed-out credit cards and impulse purchases must become a thing of the past for all of us if we are going to be financially healthy now and in the future.
